When Amanda contacted us with Liv’s story not only did we photograph her family complimentary but also knew we wanted to launch this project to raise money for Children’s Hospital Foundation to help other kids just like Cooper.
Here is Liv’s story…. in memory of her cousin Cooper….
Liv’s cousin Cooper was diagnosed with brain cancer at a very young age and sadly lost his battle before he turned three. In the short time that Cooper was with us his big heart, his zest for life and his huge smile inspired everyone that he met. Liv only got the chance to meet Cooper in person once when she was an infant, but we speak about him with our girls regularly so that they understand how lucky we are and how much of a struggle every day is for some people.
At the age of eight after talking about Cooper with her mum in the car on the way home from school one day Liv announced that she wanted to shave her hair and raise money to help out kids like Cooper so that one day they wouldn’t have to struggle with this horrible disease.
After a few conversations with Liv to make sure that she was certain that she wanted to shave her head the fundraising began. Family, friends, friends of friends and even complete strangers were touched by her determination and she was able to raise over $6500 which was an enormous effort!
In the 2/3 years since then Liv has shaved her head a couple more times on occasions like coopers birthday etc, plus I think she really likes the feel and the low maintenance aspect of the short hair!
